How to Enter Japan on a Package Tour

Last Updated: 11 September 2022

Currently, only foreign tourists traveling on tours are accepted in Japan. You need to join a package tour offered by a legally registered Japan travel agency like us (Mominoki Luxury Travel). The good news is that the ski and snowboard trips are not very restrictive, and people are largely free to go on the slopes on their own.

We can create a tour itinerary according to your transportation, accommodation and activities.

✔   Creating a tour itinerary and sponsoring your visa are FREE for Mominoki Group guests* and 20,000 yen per person for other partner hotels.
✔   You don’t need to change your current hotel booking with Mominoki Group

There has been a recent update from the Japanese government regarding tourist visas. (September 2, 2022)

The government initially announced that they were going to remove tour guide requirement for foreign tourists; however, there are actually some conditions:

Currently, there are two ways for foreign tourists to enter Japan.

Option 1

Self-guided Tour

Travel agents are required to book all Flights and Accommodation. The guest is free to travel independently, however they must follow the Japan Covid guidelines and make oneself reachable to the travel agency during your trip (email or phone).

Option 2

Guide Tour (if you wish to keep your current flights)

Groups must travel with a tour guide / an attendant and follow a set itinerary. Travel agent must arrange Accommodation, Transfers and Activities.

Please note that your current booking with Mominoki Hotel meets one of the conditions above (accommodation), because Mominoki Luxury Travel is a part of Mominoki Group. We can also arrange activities and transfers to/from Hakuba

Free activities that are continuously away from the tour conductor are now permitted. However, free activities must not cross over from one day to the next, and the tour guide must be kept updated of your whereabouts and advise on the prevention of COVID before and after the start of the free activity day. (Updated September 11. 2022)

We will use Japan’s Entrants, Returnees, Follow-up System (ERFS) to apply to the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to get permission for you to enter Japan (we will act as your sponsor).
